Green Party candidate selections

Like Fianna Fail the Green Party were slow in formally ratifying candidates to contest the next general election in the different constituencies. In the 2007 contest the Green Party contested all 43 constituencies and ran two candidates in Dublin North but appeared likely to be running fewer candidates in the upcoming contest, however a host of late selections meant that the party now have selected candidates in most of the constituencies, with just three constituencies at present left without Green Party candidates. Update: It has now been confirmed that the Green Party will contest every constituency.

Fianna Fail candidate selections

Fianna Fail were definitely slower in getting their general election candidates into the field than Fine Gael and especially Labour, but now have all their constituency convention selections completed with 75 candidates in the field, down on the 106 FF candidates that contested General Election 2007. Sinn Fein candidate selections

I found it more difficult to access as much reliable candidate selection information from the Sinn Fein website as I was able to do from the Fine Gael/Labour websites, but this is list of my current knowledge of officially selected Sinn Fein candidates and it seems this could be the final list. This list includes 41 candidates, competing in 38 different constituencies – same number of candidates as in 2007 General Election and two fewer constituencies being contested. Continue reading
